- Sonnet: Untitled
We say we have a soul
(And its existence makes us whole)
Because we can build fountains, temples, and thrones.
Cannot the river shape the same from stones?
We say because we feel,
But don't you feel
That feelings are hardly real?
- But because we think.
You may, but I don't,
And the birds don't,
And the trees don't,
And the stars can't possibly converse,
Because there is no voice to the universe,
And nothing that exists persists,
And time fades just now into the mist.
We say because we want,
And the absence would, us, unbearably haunt.
